Welcome to the website for Dr. Katherine Narr's group at the Ahmanson-Lovelace Brain Mapping Center at UCLA. Our group uses structural magnetic resonance imaging (sMRI), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), diffusion imaging (dMRI), and MR spectroscopy to investigate the neurological basis of depression, schizophrenia and other neuropsychiatric illnesses in adults and children. A focus of this work is to use advanced imaging methods to detect treatment-related neuroplasticity, and measures gene and immune system function associated with and predictive of treatment response in patients with major depressive disorder. We are also particularly interested in investigating endophenotypes for schizophrenia and the transmission of vulnerability factors for the disease.
